American Legend Homes is pleased to announce that it has been recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with a 2011 ENERGY STAR Leadership in Housing Award.  This award recognizes the important contribution American Legend has made to energy-efficient construction and environmental protection by building more than 230 ENERGY STAR qualified homes last year.  These homes will save American Legend customers approximately $447 on utility bills each year.  Collectively, the American Legend homes will save customers approximately $89,400 on utility bills annually!

The environmental benefits of these ENERGY STAR qualified homes are equal to the equivalent of:

- Eliminating the emissions from 112.7 vehicles

- Saving 681,720 lbs of coal

- Planting 186.3 acres of trees or

- Saving the environment 1,336,990 pounds of CO2 per year

To earn the ENERGY STAR, a home must meet strict guidelines for energy efficiency set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. These homes are at least 20 percent more efficient than standard new homes built today.

Dallas-based American Legend Homes (ALH) continues to experience growth in a challenging market as the company reported a 28 percent increase in its 2010 home closings. The home builder closed 234 homes in 2010, up from 182 homes in 2009.

Growth in 2010 included American Legend’s expansion into Frisco’s Stonewater Crossing and Lantana’s Magnolia neighborhoods. ALH also saw increased sales within the highly acclaimed master-planned community of Castle Hills, and had a strong presence in McKinney’s The Heights at Westridge, Fort Worth’s Ridgeview Farms and Little Elm’s Paloma Creek.

In 2011, the company’s growth will continue as ALH will offer homes in the master-planned Tribute community (surrounded by 23 miles of shoreline at Lake Lewisville and within the exemplary-rated Little Elm ISD), McKinney’s Heatherwood (within the acclaimed Prosper ISD) and Sachse’s Heritage Park (with easy access to the George Bush Turnpike).
