American Legend’s 6 favorite summertime camping games

Our American Legend Homes Colorado communities are surrounded by popular camping destinations. And many of our American Legend families love to camp and take annual summer camping trips. We love camping, too. One of our favorite campsite activities after a long day of exploring is family games. Keep your family camping trips fun and fresh with this list of some of our favorites:  

Campfire stories for kids: Gather around the campfire and spark children’s imaginations for storytelling! This game features a deck of cards with prompts that allow kids to make up stories to share with fellow campers. There are 50 cards so that means lots of campfire stories!

Balloon ping pong: This is an easy game. Blow up a balloon and head for a picnic table. Play this game like you would traditional ping pong. You can even make it more challenging with more than one balloon at once. Note: Pack plenty of balloons; you WILL need extras! 

Camp Talk: Camp Talk is another card game that “sparks hilarious conversations and discussion with every question in just a matter of seconds!” It’s a great way to bond with kids and friends and it’s appropriate for any age. 

Glow-in-the-dark ring toss: Nighttime games are always fun on camping trips. Try this one, which is great for all ages. Older kids and adults than throw from further back so no one gets an edge!

Sleeping bag races: Just like the traditional potato sack races, these are loads of fun. And you already have your sleeping bags so why not! 

Scavenger hunts: This camping classic is fun and it offers opportunities for learning. Set out to find specific flowers and bugs; look for certain kinds of rocks; who can find the most colorful leaf? So many options and so many ways to learn!
