Kids’ winter break activities from American Legend Homes

Winter break is only days away and the kids will be out of school and bouncing off the walls waiting for the upcoming holiday celebrations! Although it’s getting chilly outside, that doesn't mean there isn't something for the kids to do throughout the day! Here are just a few of American Legend’s ideas on what your kids can do during this winter break:

• Keeping the kids entertained while they are out of school is not always easy. That’s why we have to get creative! Set up an “ice cream taste test” in the kitchen with different flavors of pint-sized ice cream and have the kids put on a blindfold. Once they are done trying all the ice cream, have the kids rank the ice cream from least to favorite and see if they can guess the flavors along the way! 

• If the weather is nice, go on a “scavenger hunt” in the neighborhood. Make a list of nearby interesting sights (plants, statues, flags, street signs) or even take pics of these things and print them out. Set out on the hunt and see what you can find. This is an especially great activity if you’ve just moved into your new American Legend home and community!

• Plan a “theme day” around the house. While a lot of homes are already decorated for the holidays, you could give the kids one room to decorate themselves. A different theme for each day, like Sweet Tooth Sunday, will keep the kids busy planning how they want to decorate. It could be as simple as stringing candy canes on some yarn around the room to planning everything down to a themed outfit. Kids have such wonderful imaginations, so this is the perfect way to get those wheels turning! 

• Help kids learn about native birds with these easy-to-make birdfeeders for the backyard! They only require six ingredients and when they are empty, can easily be refilled. They are a great way to keep the kids busy and enjoy your American Legend outdoor living space!

• Have the kids set up a “winter camp day” in the family room, playroom or anywhere else in the house! Even if you don't have a tent, grab pillows and blankets to build a fort! Once the camp is built just how they want it, they can play, read books, color, have lunch or even maybe watch a movie in their camp area! 

Movie marathons, bake-offs and dance parties are also great ways to keep the kids happy and entertained through the break! This is a time for family bonding and making memories so American Legend Homes is excited to see what everyone does together during this wonderful winter season!
