Daisy Stoops, owner of Catherine Daisy Interiors, Inc., is a skilled interior designer with 19 years of experience at American Legend Homes and Belclaire Homes, having designed over 100 model homes for both companies.
Q: First, what does a model home designer do?
A: My role is to support builders in marketing their homes. I accomplish this by collaborating with them to understand their target market, identify current trends, and establish a style that enhances their floor plans while appealing to potential buyers. Drawing on my years of experience in interior design, I select all the personal choices a home buyer might consider, including brickwork, paint, flooring, countertops, hardware, plumbing fixtures, and lighting. Once I create a thoughtful backdrop, I choose furnishings, draperies, artwork, and accessories that align with the builder's marketing goals and stay within their budget.
Q: That sounds like fun!
A: American Legend truly understands the needs of families when it comes to home design. Their secondary bedrooms are often larger, and many of their layouts include multiple family areas. Additionally, American Legend floor plans feature spacious closets, which help busy families stay organized. I also appreciate the abundance of natural light that fills their homes. I believe strongly in the quality of their construction, so I not only bought and built one but two homes with American Legend Homes for my family.
Q: Why do you like working with American Legend Homes?
A: American Legend really addresses how homes function for families. Secondary bedrooms are often larger; many homes offer the practical Jack-and-Jill baths; and American Legend floor plans included oversized closets, which help keep a busy family organized. I also love that American Legend homes are full of natural light. I am such a firm believer in the quality of construction that I, too, am an American Legend homeowner.
Q: What is your design background?
A: I hold degrees in business and interior design, allowing me to approach design from both budget-conscious and style-focused perspectives. I have been a professional designer for over 25 years.
Q: How do you tie our experiences as a parent to your design decision in kids’ rooms for American Legend Homes?
A: My design style has evolved significantly through my experience as a mother of twin teenage boys. I prioritize clean lines and have embraced a more realistic design approach that reflects how people actually live. This aligns perfectly with American Legend's philosophy of building homes that cater to contemporary lifestyles.
