Five one-tank-of-gas road trips that American Legend Homes recommends

Taking vacations can be difficult and expensive, and we all know that some staycations are not the same as actually getting away. Here are five top destinations, however, that you can get to from your American Legend home on one tank of gas…or less!

1.Addison: Cavanaugh Flight Museum

Ready for take-off! Just right down the road in Addison sits a collection of 58 restored airplanes from the World War I era to the Vietnam era. The majority of these restored planes are still in perfect flight condition and for an extra fee, you can take a 30-minute ride in a World War II trainer. The Cavanaugh Flight Museum is just 33 miles from our Union Park community.

2.Fort Worth: Cultural District

Just a few miles from downtown Fort Worth is the Cultural District where you can find a variety of museums that everyone can enjoy. Not only is the Cultural District home to some of the best museums but there is also the Will Rogers Memorial Center, Dickies Arena and Casa Mañana theater. If you are looking for something more outdoorsy, just down the road from the Cultural District are the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens and The Fort Worth Zoo. You can even take a nice jog or bike ride along the Trinity River. The Fort Worth Cultural District is a quick 41 miles from our Castle Hills community!

3.Sulphur Springs: Southwest Dairy Museum and Education Center

This 10,000-square-foot dairy farm offers scheduled guided tours around the farm and will answer any questions you may have about the milk and dairy industry. One of their main exhibits is a series of historical vignettes that will showcase life on the dairy farm before electricity was introduced into rural America. This museum is just over 100 miles from our homes in the Berkshire community.

4.Hico: Wiseman House Chocolates

Chocolates, truffles, toffee, oh my! There is no better place to fix that sweet tooth hankering than a trip over to the Wiseman House Chocolates. Not only can you go in and stock up on all sorts of homemade chocolates, you can also schedule a tour of the chocolate studio or even sign up for a chocolate class. Either way, you can’t go wrong with a little more sugar in your life! This destination is only 130 miles from our Wildridge community.

5.Waco: Magnolia Silos

Want a southern get away for a weekend? Less than a tank of gas away in Waco you can find some of the best bakeries, coffee shops, home stores, boutiques and more! The Magnolia Silos holds events throughout the year and, even on the quiet weeks, there is always something to do and see. This weekend trip can be as quiet or as adventurous as you want it to be! The Magnolia Silos are just 150 miles from our Light Farms community, which has a new phase coming soon!

Whether you want to be one with nature, try something new or just need a break from your everyday routine, you don’t have to go far or spend a lot of money to make it happen…especially if you live in an American Legend Homes community!
