At American Legend Homes, experience isn't just measured in years—it's reflected in the relationships we build, the expertise we develop, and the confidence we bring to every homebuyer's journey.
We're highlighting one of our longest-tenured team members, Karen Cacciapaglia, who has been helping buyers create beautiful, personalized homes for nearly 14 years as part of our Design Studio team in Texas.
Fourteen Years of Dedication
Karen will celebrate 14 years with American Legend Homes this September, and while she jokes that she lives close enough to walk to work, it's the company culture that has truly kept her here.
"American Legend Homes is a great company to work for," Karen says. "They treat their employees with kindness and respect, offer competitive pay and incredible benefits. I love my coworkers, and I love meeting new people—our buyers."
That passion for people has been the foundation of her career.
Growing Alongside the Company
Over the past decade, Karen has watched both the company and the Design Studio evolve.
"The design center has grown from four designers to seven," she shares. "Our design documentation has changed considerably with more detailed diagrams and photos, which provides our builders, vendors, and buyers with much more detailed information."
These improvements have strengthened communication and created an even better experience for everyone involved in the homebuilding process.
Turning Dreams Into Reality
One of the things that sets American Legend Homes apart is the flexibility and variety offered to buyers.
"I know we offer plan changes that other builders don't, and we offer many interior selection options," Karen explains.
Those options allow buyers to truly personalize their homes, and helping them bring their vision to life is what Karen enjoys most.
"Seeing buyers' vision and helping make their dreams come true" is what she's most proud of accomplishing during her time with American Legend Homes.
Guiding Buyers with Confidence
Design appointments can feel overwhelming with so many selections to make, but Karen's years of experience help simplify the process.
She starts by learning about each family's style and lifestyle.
"I ask what colors they prefer—cool grays or warm beiges—what style they like, whether they have pets or children. That helps point us in the right direction."
She also offers honest guidance based on experience.
"I like to think of it as my own house. I'll let them know where I would splurge on special items and where I wouldn't."
Buyers frequently ask what others are choosing, what comes standard, and how much different options cost. Karen's knowledge allows her to answer those questions with confidence while helping families make decisions they'll love for years to come.
Why Experience Still Matters
When asked why experience matters after all these years, Karen's answer perfectly reflects the value of a seasoned team.
"We've learned from past mistakes and know what works and what doesn't. We know when to ask questions. We have long-standing relationships with people within the company as well as our business partners, and we work together to create a great experience and beautiful home for our buyers."
Her education and years of design experience also provide valuable insight into proportion, spatial relationships, color, pattern, and current design trends—knowledge that helps buyers feel confident throughout the design process.
Advice for Future Homeowners
Karen encourages anyone building a new home to do a little homework before their design appointment.
"Make time to search Houzz or Pinterest, and walk model homes and inventory homes to see what you like—or don't like."
Having inspiration beforehand helps buyers communicate their style and makes the design process even more enjoyable.
One Word: Dedicated
If Karen had to describe the American Legend Homes team in one word, it would be dedicated.
That dedication is evident in every buyer interaction and every design decision.
After nearly 14 years, Karen still loves what she does because every day brings new opportunities to meet people, be creative, and help families create a place they'll call home.
Experience matters because it brings knowledge. It builds trust. It creates lasting relationships. Most importantly, it helps turn a house into a home—and that's exactly what Karen and the American Legend Homes Design Studio strive to do every day.
