Spruce Up Your Lawn with American Legend’s Landscaping Tips

Spruce Up Your Lawn with American Legend’s Landscaping Tips

Flowers are blooming and birds are chirping. That means it’s spring in Texas! Landscaping in our area can be a challenge due to extreme weather conditions but maintaining your home’s lawn and garden area is important year-round. Here are a few spring landscaping tips for your American Legend home:

Choose heat and drought tolerant flowers and plants that require less water and work. Salvias are a perennial that provide both greenery and color, and yuccas can provide texture and height to your garden. Lantana, verbena, purple heart, Mexican heather grass and purple coneflower are also popular with North Texas master gardeners.

Well-known radio host, author and garden expert Neil Sperry says his most asked question about Texas lawns is about bare spots beneath shade trees: “If you have an area that gets less than five or six hours of direct sunlight daily, grass isn’t going to grow there. You’re wasting your hopes, effort and money in trying to get it to happen. Go to a shade-tolerant ground cover instead.”

Every American Legend home comes with stunning curb appeal and large outdoor living spaces. Several floor plans offer indoor areas that open directly into covered outdoor spaces with oversized glass-paneled sliding doors. These spaces are ideal for both entertaining friends and family, as well as relaxing after a long day at the office. Explore all of the American Legend floor plans here and plan to visit your favorite American Legend community today. And happy gardening!
