Stages 3 and 4 of building your American Legend home

May 21, 2021

Stages 3 and 4 of building your American Legend home

A few weeks ago, we talked about stages 0, 1 and 2 of the American Legend homebuilding process. By the end of stage 2, upward construction will have begun on your home and your frame walls will be set. Now, lets look at stages 3 and 4.

Stage 3:

  • To ensure that no exterior water can get inside the home, the cornice or sheathing, siding, roof decking and shingles will be installed. Vinyl low-E windows and temporary doors on all exterior entrances will also put in place.
  • Once the interior has thoroughly dried, the roughs will be installed. “Roughs” is a general term referring to the plumbing, electrical and HVAC system components that are placed before adding insulation and drywall. First, water and drainpipes will be placed inside the walls in designated locations. Then, HVAC ducts and return air grills will be installed and electrical and low-voltage lines placed. If your home will have a fireplace, it will be installed with its necessary venting.

Stage 4:

  • During stage 4, cabinets and doors will be measured and ordered for their upcoming installation.
  • Further inspections with your construction manager and the city will be scheduled to look at your home’s plumbing, A/C mechanicals and electrical roughs, as well as the frame’s structure.
  • Finally, you will attend a “Pre-Drywall” meeting with your construction manager. We encourage our buyers to take photos at this meeting to prepare for potential remodeling projects in the future.

Building a home can be stressful, but we like to make it a fun and organized process while you watch your home take shape. To learn more about building an American Legend home, browse the locations where we build and reach out to a Sales Associates to tour your favorite community.
